  • The Empty Central Station in Copenhagen

The Empty Central Station in Copenhagen

Copenhagen Central Station is a busy station, but this morning I was lucky to capture an empty platform. I particularly like the play between the orange elektrical light and the blue natural light.

  • High Tide in Nyhavn

    High Tide in Nyhavn

Nyhavn is one of the biggest attractions for the tourists in Copenhagen. I can see why.

  • Snowy Weather in Nyhavn

    Snowy Weather in Nyhavn

On a snowy day in Nyhavn in Copenhagen, I got this photo.

  • Manarola Day to Night

    Manarola Day to Night

The photo covers many hours compressed into one photo. There is a 10 minute nighttime star trail exposure and day time bathing action.

  • Mound Sunset and Stars

    Mound Sunset and Stars

A dramatic sunset with stars above.

  • Patterns in the floor

    Patterns in the floor

When I exhibited at Chester Art Fair 2015, I got the chance to see Chester Cathedral. An amazingly beautiful cathedral built in the shape of an enormous big cross. It's like it has more churches in one, or many chapels if you like. This pattern on the floor I think is a bit of a secret. It's hidden behind the main altar, next the choir boy's benches. It's a sort of a room right in the middle of the church, but for some reason you miss it.

  • Leaving Eltz Castle by a Car

Leaving Eltz Castle by a Car

I forgot my jacket in the car, when I went to shoot photos of Eltz Burg & Eltz Castle. I ended standing for a couple of hours in a light but very cold wind. In the end I was rewarded by this situation, a car leaving the Castle.

  • London Natural History Museum 1

    London Natural History Museum 1

The Natural History Museum in London has been on my list of 'places I want to shoot photos' for quite a while. By doing a little planning I was able to get a shot without any people in it.

  • The Cathedral by the Sea

    The Cathedral by the Sea

The Cathedral by The Sea in Barcelona is in many ways a pretty simple cathedral, but I think that is what makes it so beautiful.

  • A Room of Pillars

    A Room of Pillars

Yet another shot from Chester Cathedral - this one I mirrored to get a perfect symmetry. The blue light on the floor comes from some machines, from the opposite part of the photo, that I left out. Ghost light you could call it. Photo by: Jacob Surland

  • The Standard

    The Standard

The Standard in Copenhagen houses a couple of nice restaurants. It used to be the ferry terminal, for the ferries to Sweden.

This is an artistic interpretation of the sunrise I saw at Lake Matheson in New Zealand. It was a magic sunrise no doubt about it. Photo by: Jacob Surland

  • Nyhavn in the Morning

    Nyhavn in the Morning

    Nyhavn in the Morning
In the heart of Copenhagen in Denmark lies Nyhavn (New Port). It used to be a port for trading goods, but now it's a place, that the people of Copenhagen gather for a cold beer or a homemade Ice cream during the summer. The canal tours also have their starting point here.

  • Mahoni Roof Rialto Reflection

    Mahoni Roof Rialto Reflection

Scaffoldings covered half of Rialto Bridge when I visited Venice. This, of course, was a great disappointment, as I had planned to shoot it. I call it Scaffolding Disease, and I seem to suffer from that disease. The good thing about such situations is that you are forced to look for alternative compositions. Compositions that include at maximum half of the bridge and I am not sure I would have shot this shot, had it not been for the search for a unique composition. I wanted a photo of the bridge, and this is one of my shots. I used the roof of a beautiful wooden taxi boat, to capture a reflection of Rialto Bridge.

  • Street in Mont Saint Michel

    Street in Mont Saint Michel

At daytime Mont Saint Michel is crowded with tourists, but later, when the sun is down people leave the place. It's a labyrinth of small streets and alleys criss crossing their way to the entrance of the monastery on the top of the mountain. Small lamps light up and make it very Harry Potter medieval town. Rubjergknude lighthouse

Rubjergknude light house is no longer in service. It is half covered in a sand dune. There used to be a cafe only a few years ago, but the pressure from the sand, broke the house. You can still see the remains of it.

  • Bad Weather in Paris

    Bad Weather in Paris

A grand view of Paris seen from the top of the Arch of Triumph. The weather was not very good for photography, but it was the only chance I had to get up there, so I stayed stubbornly and covered my camera from the rain. And I am happy that I did, I got many good shots from up there. This one is one of my favorites.

    Harbor

Sydney Opera House is the most photographed building on the southern hemisphere. As a Danish Fine Art photographer, I am very proud, that the architect Jørn Utzon who made the Operahouse is Danish too. This is a view of Harbor Bridge and the Operahouse just as the Sun is rising. The Water runs blue in Salzburg

After almost 30 years I returned to Salzburg in 2016. I have a strong and wonderful memory of Salzburg. It was the destination of my first real trip abroad. Salzburg was every bit as beautiful as I remembered it. In the blue hour, the river of Salzach turned completely blue. Photo by: Jacob Surland

I januar 2017 mente TV-2 vejr, at Københavns havn ville blive oversvømmet af højvande, under en storm. Nok steg vandet en del, men oversvømmelse blev det ikke til. Her kan man se, at vandet er steget over kanalrundfartens bådebro.
