While I was shooting this photo, a guy came up to me, and said "Wow, you're really using a tripod for shooting photos? I am just shooting handheld using this." he said and showed me a DLSR camera. And I started to explain, how I shoot several exposures, and I mix them together using a computer, and to be able to do that, I have to have identical images. I also explained; some of the exposures are way too long to hold in hand and I have to use a tripod alone for that. And we talked for a little while, and I showed a few of my photos on my iPhone. Nature sometimes presents some odds things to human beings. Why do perfectly round boulders come out of the sea, at one particular beach in New Zealand? You can't help but stand and stare in wonder. I had something particular in mind when I got to the beach. A long exposure to enhance the peacefulness that you experience on a beach, but the light and waves wasn't right, and I did not get this the way I wanted it. But instead I made the long exposure look even longer, by using some horizontal motion blur. I then also changed the colors, until I got something I liked, and this is the result. --Jacob Surland Read the rest of the blogpost here: http://goo.gl/JzVK2E Photo by: Jacob Surland, www.caughtinpixels.com Licensed creative commons non-commercial v4.0. We got up early to get some sunrise shots of Venice, and on our way to our Sunrise Spot, we took some shots like this one from the backside of Doná Palace and Hotel Colombina. There is quite a lot traffic during the day because this is the canal that leads under the Bridge of Sighs. Both taxi boats and gondolas go that way all day long. But at night, it is beautiful and quite. Photo by: Jacob Surland, www.caughtinpixels.com Licensed creative commons non-commercial v4.0. No derivative Work. Protected by Pixsy.com.
