Vikingship on a winter's morning
On a cold winters morning I found the Sea Stallion sitting alone on the land, wrapped in Christmas lights. The Sea Stallion is the world's largest reproduction of a Viking ship. The Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde owns the Sea Stallion.

The Outer Pier in small, but very old harbor of Roskilde. Roskilde is the home of the Vikings and is the also burial place for Monarchs of Denmark, and has been for a thousand years. History has a heavy footprint in Roskilde.

Rubjergknude light house is no longer in service. It is half covered in a sand dune. There used to be a cafe only a few years ago, but the pressure from the sand, broke the house. You can still see the remains of it.

Sunrise over the Fiord
On the very first morning I got up very early with the specific purpose, to photograph the sunrise, I got this sunrise as a reward. The sunlight licks the wooden jetty, and the clouds mirror in the completely smooth water on summer's day. The Sun rises over the Fiord of Roskilde, my hometown. Roskilde is the first capital of Denmark, and you can find many historic and interesting sites. During the past millennium, many of the kings have been buried in Roskilde.

Library in Kings Castle
Sometimes history just is amazing, and one 'old' is turned into another 'old'. Hans Christian Andersen (the author 'The ugly Duckling" etc) was one of the first, to suggest to preserve the old castle. In my perception preservation is something you do 'now', but of course 'now' is ever changing. Hans Christian Andersen suggested this around 1830.
The old castle had it's time of pride, and one of the most famous kings in Denmark Christian IV spend a large part of his childhood here, that was in the 16th century. However, a terrible fire in 1808 burned half the castle almost to the ground. The castle wasn't restored until the 1970s.
This magnificient library survived the terrible fire.
