Scaffoldings covered half of Rialto Bridge when I visited Venice. This, of course, was a great disappointment, as I had planned to shoot it. I call it Scaffolding Disease, and I seem to suffer from that disease. The good thing about such situations is that you are forced to look for alternative compositions. Compositions that include at maximum half of the bridge and I am not sure I would have shot this shot, had it not been for the search for a unique composition. I wanted a photo of the bridge, and this is one of my shots. I used the roof of a beautiful wooden taxi boat, to capture a reflection of Rialto Bridge.

Copenhagen University at Night
This photo is the main building of the University of Copenhagen from 1836. The University has fostered known people, one of the most famous is Hans Christian Oersted, who discovered electromagnetism in 1820.
This particular photo I had waited and waited to be able to take it. The square in front of the building is always crowded with people, buses, cars, etc. But this day, only one single car was there.ArchitectureBuildingCaught in pixelsCityCity By NightCityscapeCloudsCopenhagenCountryDenmarkDesolateGeometryHDRHigh Dynamic RangeHouseJacob SurlandKøbenhavnKøbenhavns UniversitetLampLamp postLamp postsLightLightsLinesLong exposureLong time exposureNightOld buildingSkyTimeUniversityUniversity of Copenhagen

We arrived early in the morning, minutes after the cathedral opened. It was close to empty. The gothic architecture is fantastic, and the light and the colors coming from the windows makes it a beautiful experience, as well as giving some great photos. --Jacob Surland

Jack the Ripper in Roskilde
While I was shooting the seven photos, this HDR photo is made of, Jack the Ripper ran past me, closely followed by the bat mobile. Due to the long exposure times, I didn't capture them. Roskilde Cathedral was the first Gothic Cathedral built of Brick. It is the burial sites of the Danish monarchs and the second king of Denmark; Harald Bluetooth is buried here too. Harald Bluetooth has given name to the modern technology of the same name.

Patterns in the floor
When I exhibited at Chester Art Fair 2015, I got the chance to see Chester Cathedral. An amazingly beautiful cathedral built in the shape of an enormous big cross. It's like it has more churches in one, or many chapels if you like. This pattern on the floor I think is a bit of a secret. It's hidden behind the main altar, next the choir boy's benches. It's a sort of a room right in the middle of the church, but for some reason you miss it.

Sunrise over the Fiord
On the very first morning I got up very early with the specific purpose, to photograph the sunrise, I got this sunrise as a reward. The sunlight licks the wooden jetty, and the clouds mirror in the completely smooth water on summer's day. The Sun rises over the Fiord of Roskilde, my hometown. Roskilde is the first capital of Denmark, and you can find many historic and interesting sites. During the past millennium, many of the kings have been buried in Roskilde.

Shining Pulpit
On a day in September as hot as a summer day, I caught this in a Cathedral in Amsterdam. A nice american lady said, that it looked like a nice camera I had there, but that she would precious her pictures just as much I would mine, even though her camera was much smaller.
